First Lady Karla Ann Elizabeth Hay McLaughlin, M.S.- was born in Kingston, Jamaica and grew up in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

where she was confirmed in the faith at St. Brides Anglican Church. She began serving the Lord as a teenager teaching Sunday school. She has done just about everything in the church except sing in the choir. At Covenant she leads the Women’s Ministry and the Children and Youth Ministry areas. Ministry of service outside the church includes volunteering as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Child Advocates; President, Eagle Creek Elementary School PTO and planning member for the Fathers and Families Center’s Annual Faces of Fatherhood Luncheon. As a recovering “Martha,” she renewed her interest in her hobbies of sewing, reading and walking. Her dream is to grow old with her husband, watch their son mature into a strong man of God and her puppy (Mocha) grow into a well-behaved dog.
